LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The chief of police in Little Rock is retiring by the end of June, and who will replace him remains a mystery.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/SK4jQT ) that Stuart Thomas will retire after nearly a decade of leading the state’s largest police department.
There are three candidates to replace Thomas: 45-year-old Kenton Buckner, an assistant police chief with the Louisville, Ky., Metro Police Department; John Ray, the chief executive deputy for the Tarrant County, Texas, sheriff’s office; and 49-year-old Little Rock Assistant Police Chief Eric Higgins.
City Manager Bruce Moore is conducting the search.
The Little Rock police department has 700 employees and a $67 million budget.
