LINCOLN, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have identified the driver killed in a crash with a dump truck in Lincoln.

Troopers say Monday that 48-year-old Paul Spencer of Lincoln was killed in the May 20 crash.

Investigators say Spencer was driving north on Cedar Creek Road when his car entered the southbound lanes and went into the path of a dump truck.

Police say Spencer tried to avoid a collision, but was his car was struck on the passenger side by the dump truck. Officers say both vehicles came to rest in a ditch, and the car became engulfed in flames.

Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck’s driver, 65-year-old James Daisey of Lincoln, was treated and released at a local hospital.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation.
