AVALON, N.J. (AP) - Child endangerment charges have been filed against a southern New Jersey man who authorities say was driving drunk when his car struck a utility pole, injuring him and a 7-year-old passenger.
The Press of Atlantic City (https://bit.ly/1jUJs8S) reports that 31-year-old Clarence Pike IV of Lower Township also was charged with aggravated assault by auto and failure to provide health and safety to the public. He also faces several motor vehicle citations, including driving with a suspended license.
Pike’s bail was set at $50,000 cash, and it was not known Monday if he had retained a lawyer.
The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday in Avalon. Authorities say Pike and his young passenger both suffered undisclosed injuries and taken to a hospital, where both were listed in stable condition.
