HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) - A 7-year-old Michigan boy is one of two-dozen young soccer fans from across the country selected to attend the World Cup in Brazil and accompany the U.S. team onto the field during a game.

Isaiah Tolan will walk hand-in-hand with a player before the American team takes on Ghana in Natal, Brazil, on June 16.

The first-grader will attend the World Cup with his father, Aaron. The Tolans are from Holland, Michigan.

Globally, 1,408 children are chosen by McDonald’s to serve as Player Escorts and support their country’s players during the monthlong tournament.

Ronald McDonald broke the news to Isaiah during a recent event in the Grand Rapids area.
