CHICAGO (AP) - Six people have been killed and at least 10 others wounded in shootings and other violence across Chicago over the long Memorial Day weekend.
Among the dead was a 17-year-old who was shot in the jaw Saturday night in the Washington Heights neighborhood. The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1jnryWp ) that the boy, Dashawn Johnson, died of his injuries Sunday night at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Police say officers also shot and killed a man after he lunged at them with a knife. Police say the officers were responding to an emergency call from fire department paramedics who were confronted by the man on Saturday night in the Englewood neighborhood.
Sixty-two-year-old Michael Myers was taken to the hospital in Oak Lawn where he was later pronounced dead.
