Prosecutors: Shooter was on electronic monitoring

CHICAGO (AP) - Prosecutors say a 17-year-old Chicago boy who shot another teenager seven times was on electronic monitoring at the time of the shooting on another charge.

Larry Lucas was in court Saturday where a Cook County judge ordered him into jail. The Chicago Sun-Times reports (bit.ly/1jJq8Kb) he’s charged as an adult with aggravated battery with a firearm.

Prosecutors say the victim curled into a ball after the first shot and survived the May 14 attack. He endured several surgeries and was able to identify his assailant from a series of photos.

The victim, who was also 17, had been on his way to his grandmother’s house. Prosecutors say Lucas knew the victim from the neighborhood.

Lucas was on electronic monitoring on an unlawful use of a weapon charge.
