EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) - The capital of Scotland will have no team in the country’s top division next season after Hibernian joined Edinburgh rival Hearts in dropping out of the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Hibs lost 4-3 to Hamilton in a penalty shootout in the second leg of their Scottish Premiership playoff, having slumped to a 2-0 defeat after extra time at Easter Road. Hibs won the first leg 2-0 away.

With Hearts relegated after finishing last in the regular season, the Edinburgh derby will take place in the second tier for the first time.

Glasgow giant Rangers, demoted to the bottom of Scotland’s football pyramid because of financial problems two years ago, will also be playing in the second tier next season after earning promotion.
