COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say two people have drowned in South Carolina waterways during the Memorial Day weekend.

The Department of Natural Resources says one drowning was reported in the Broad River in Columbia, while the second drowning was on Lake Marion in Orangeburg County.

In the Columbia incident, authorities say a 49-year-old man disappeared while swimming around 4 p.m. Saturday. His body was recovered a few hours later.

Investigators say a teen’s body was found Saturday evening near a dock at Lake Marion near Eutawville.

The names of the two drowning victims have not been released.
