TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Survivors of the Tucson shooting that killed six people and wounded 13 others, including former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, are helping to make memorial quilts.
Three shooting victims and Roxanna Green, whose 9-year-old daughter was among the fatalities, will donate fabric for quilts Saturday from items that were left at impromptu memorials created in the days following the 2011 shooting.
The Arizona chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will use them during a quilting bee in Tucson.
The group says it plans a series of quilts incorporating submissions from mothers affected by gun violence.
The items being donated include objects from Giffords’ congressional office.
Jared Lee Loughner was convicted in the rampage and sentenced in 2012 to seven consecutive life sentences, plus 140 years.
