CLINTON, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say two Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers have been injured in a boating accident on Norris Lake in East Tennessee.
According to WVLT-TV (https://bit.ly/1pmTi2t ), the agency says officers Jerry Short and Harrison Cornett were on patrol near Blue Springs Dock when they hit a large piece of debris on Friday night.
The officers, who were wearing their life jackets, were thrown into the water. Officials said Short was able to swim back to the boat and use the radio to call for help.
The agency says both officers suffered minor injuries and have been released from the Claiborne County Hospital in Tazewell.
TWRA Investigator George Birdwell says the agency created a policy in recent years requiring that agency employees wear a life jacket while in a vessel.
