The former posh winter estate of the Kennedy clan located in Palm Beach, Florida — the one nicknamed during John F. Kennedy’s presidency as the “winter White House” — has hit the real estate market with an opening sales price of $38.5 million.
It spans 11 bedrooms, it features a Mediterranean Revival style, and it was built in 1922. The Kennedy clan bought it for only $120,000 in 1933, the Daily Mail reported.
Among the amenities: Ocean views, gorgeous grounds, a tennis court and swimming pool and multiple balconies.
Other homes belonging to the famous family have sold for considerably less — but the winter compound carries hefty political weight as well as historical artifacts. Investment banking CEO John Castle spent $6 million to renovate it when he bought it in 1995 for the sum of $4.9 million, but he considered it a “national sanctuary” and kept some of the Kennedy family’s furniture inside the home.
In fact, he paid $80,000 for some of the Kennedy furniture, including beds used by Joseph, John, Bobby and Ted, a dining table that stretches 18 feet in length and the massage table that was used by JFK, the Daily Mail reported.
Also still in the house is a set of drawers with labels that were handwritten by Rose Kennedy.
