WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Winston-Salem State says it is dropping women’s bowling and men’s tennis from its athletics program.
A statement issued by the school Friday said only three athletes are impacted by the decision, which drops the school to 11 sports. One part-time head coach will lost their job.
The school said athletes participating in the affected sports who continue their undergraduate education at Winston-Salem State will continue to receive their athletic aid for the 2014-15 school year if they were receiving it. The school also will grant releases to student-athletes who choose to transfer to another school.
