TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson’s city manager has announced he will retire on July 31 after three years as city manager and nearly four decades of work for the city.
Richard Miranda became a Tucson police officer in 1975 and was named police chief in 1998 Tucson.
After retiring as police chief, Miranda became an assistant city manager in 2008. He was named interim city manager in 2011 before taking the job permanently in 2012.
Mayor Jonathan Rothschild says Miranda leaves big shoes to fill.
Rothschild he expects the City Council next week will begin a national search for a new city manager.
