Lansal food producer executives have recalled more than seven tons of hummus, the company’s voluntary response to a Texas health department finding of possible contamination in the Target Archer Farms Traditional version of the product.
Nobody has yet reported a hummus-related illness, Fox News reported. But the Food and Drug Administration reported that the company has pulled back 14,800-plus pounds of its product from a variety of store shelves, including Trader Joe’s, Target and Giant Eagle.
The fear is of listeria, a bacteria that brings serious infection and even death. Short-term symptoms include high fevers, intense headaches and abdominal pain and cramping.
Those who purchased the recalled product — and the full list is on the FDA’s website — may return it to the store they bought it from and get a full refund, Fox News reported.
