COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Columbus police have identified a decomposing body found at a central Ohio rental property.

Police identify the man as 54-year-old Michael Freeman and say an autopsy determined that his death was a homicide. Investigators say they’re looking for Freeman’s 40-year-old roommate, a man who hasn’t been seen for several weeks.

Police say an owner and maintenance person visiting the Columbus property smelled something odd, found the body and called authorities Thursday morning.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that detectives said Freeman’s body was found in a bin inside a closet.

A police spokeswoman says the residence is a three-bedroom property.
