CHICAGO (AP) - President Barack Obama is hitting one of his familiar Chicago restaurants with Gov. Pat Quinn.

Obama spent a rare night at his Kenwood home and had breakfast Thursday with Quinn at nearby Valois Cafeteria where a menu lists Obama’s favorite items.

Obama ordered two eggs over medium with bacon and hash browns and then greeted diners and exchanged handshakes after paying for the meal. He told one patron that he feels good. The night before, Obama attended fundraisers benefiting Sen. Dick Durbin and other Democrats.

Quinn is seeking re-election and faces a tough challenger from Republican businessman Bruce Rauner (ROW’-nur).

Quinn has spent the week in Springfield as lawmakers are trying to piece a budget together. Illinois’ income tax increase rolls back in January, leaving a massive budget hole.
