A naked man has been arrested after he walked up to an entrance for the White House, stripped off his clothes and then hit the officers who confronted him.

Michel Bechard approached uniformed Secret Service officers at a Pennsylvania Avenue entrance to the executive mansion, then took off all his clothes, said Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie.

“At that time they confronted him and they tried to subdue him. He became combative and assaulted the officers,” Mr. Ogilvie said.

The incident occurred at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon. Secret Service officers reportedly covered the man with a blanket before taking him away.

Officers took Mr. Bechard to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries he sustained during the incident. He is facing two counts of assault and one count of indecent exposure, Mr. Ogilvie said.

Information on the man’s age and if a mental evaluation was planned were not currently available.
