Conservative talk show giant Mark Levin took to the airwaves to denounce a Democratic-controlled Senate that he slammed for hypocrisy, in effect asking: How can you demand the Redskins change its NFL name, yet stand by racist statements made by your own party leader, Harry Reid?
The Blaze reported that Mr. Levin seemed to reference the time when Mr. Reid praised President Obama for his ability to speak with no “negro dialect.”
In 2010, Mr. Reid was forced to apologize for quoted remarks in the book, “Game Change.” The authors wrote that Mr. Reid said privately that he “was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a ’light-skinned’ African American ’with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,’ ” CNN reported.
On his most recent show, Mr. Levin blasted the 50 Democrats in the Senate who wrote to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to press him to support the Redskins’ name-change, calling it racist.
“They haven’t done a damn thing for minority unemployment in this country … in fact, they haven’t done a damn thing for anybody in this country — but this, they think is important,” Mr. Levin said, The Blaze reported. “Did the Democrat Party act quickly and expel Harry Reid [for his racial comments]? Of course not. That’s different. Even though he’s the Donald Sterling of the Senate? Of course not — that’s different.”
Mr. Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, is under fire for racial comments he made to his female companion. An audio recording revealed that he chastised her for posting pictures of herself with blacks on her Instagram account and said she shouldn’t bring them to basketball games.
