WAYCROSS, Ga. (AP) - A man charged with robbing a Georgia bank has entered a not guilty plea.
Thirty-three year-old Nevada Powell is charged with armed bank robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. The U.S. Attorney for the southern district of Georgia office reports in a statement that Powell is accused of stealing about $38,000 from a Wells Fargo bank in April, armed with a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun and leaving behind a fake explosive device.
Powell will remain in custody until trial. A federal grand jury indicted him earlier this month.
A message for Powell’s attorney was not immediately returned.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Douglas Police Department, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation participated in the investigation.
