JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - A Will County judge has ruled that three suspects in the 2013 strangulation deaths of two Joliet men will be tried separately.
Judge Gerald Kinney’s ruling on Friday came a day after 20-year-old Alisa Massaro pleaded guilty to reduced charges in exchange for her testimony against 25-year-old Joshua Miner, 20-year-old Adam Landerman and 19-year-old Bethany McKee.
Prosecutors say they invited Eric Glover and Terrence Rankins, both 22, to Massaro’s Joliet home to rob them of money and drugs. Massaro pleaded guilty to robbery and concealing a homicide Thursday in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence.
The Herald-News in Joliet reports (https://bit.ly/1gXQ3il) Assistant State’s Attorney John Connor asked to separate the defendants’ trials because statements they’ve made against each other could prejudice a jury. The defense attorneys did not object.
