GALLATIN, Tenn. (AP) - A Bethpage woman has admitted to embezzling more than $600,000 from her employer.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office in Nashville, Traci Lynne Howes pleaded guilty on Thursday to filing a false tax return in connection with the embezzlement.

At the plea hearing, the former office manager for Drywall Systems Inc. in Gallatin admitted to wiring the company’s money to herself and making unauthorized charges on the company credit card. The embezzlement took place from January 2008 to July 2011.

In addition, Howes failed to send the Internal Revenue Service the taxes withheld from employees’ paychecks.

She has agreed to repay Drywall Systems and the IRS.

Howes faces up to three years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 5.
