SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa (AP) - Convergys says it will be cutting 150 jobs at its call center in northwest Iowa’s Sergeant Bluff.

Spokeswoman Brooke Beiting says one of its clients wanted the work moved to another Convergys location, but she would not identify the client or the other Convergys site. She says the decision about Sergeant Bluff was not about performance but was aligned with the client’s priorities.

The cuts are expected to begin June 8 and end by July 27, leaving about 500 employees at the Sergeant Bluff location. Convergys acquired the center as part of its $820 million acquisition of Stream Global Services. The deal closed earlier this year.

Cincinnati-based Convergys has 125,000 employees working out of more than 150 locations in 31 countries.
