Talk about a medical emergency. The Boston Fire Department rushed to the VA hospital in West Roxbury on Friday after a car reportedly smashed into the building.

The fire department tweeted that the car was taken away from the scene and that the facility seemed to have escaped structural damage.

But the city building inspector still has to sign off on the scene, the tweet stated.

Boston.com reported one of the tweets, about 1 p.m.: “JUST IN: Car crashed in the VA Hospital in West Roxbury.”

The driver’s condition and what caused the vehicle to veer off course was not immediately known.
