Anthony Weiner, the former hard-charging Democratic congressman who’s star fell from a sexting scandal, nonetheless jumped back into the daily political discourse to offer his opinion on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s picks for the Benghazi committee: You could do better, he said.
His actual words, in a tweet, were much more colorful.
“Not crazy about Pelosi picks for Benghazi panel,” he wrote, The Hill reported. “Seems like we are going into a knife fight carrying library books.”
Ms. Pelosi spent a week mulling whether Democrats should even take part in the House Select Committee on Benghazi. Ultimately, her picks were Reps. Elijah Cummings, Adam Smith, Adam Schiff, Linda Sanchez and Tammy Duckworth.
Mr. Weiner didn’t explain the reasons for his criticisms, or offer any other names that he could point to as better candidates, The Hill reported.
Mr. Weiner served in Congress from 1999 to 2011. He then ran unsuccessfully for mayor of New York City.
