MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Federal authorities say a man they describe as a fugitive from justice in connection with a south Alabama shooting has been apprehended in Sacramento, California.
The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Prichard Police Department on Friday announced the arrest of Cornelius Maurice Jones in Sacramento. They said Jones had been a fugitive since the 2008 shooting in Prichard. The Marshals Service said Jones fled shortly after the crime because of media attention that drew attention to him.
Authorities said investigators determined Jones was living in Sacramento with an associate, who had ties to the Mobile area. U.S. Marshals Service investigators went to that location Thursday evening and took Jones into custody.
