PHILADELPHIA MAYOR ASKS TO MARRY SAME-SEX COUPLE
Mayor Michael Nutter extended the invitation to Catherine Hennessy and Kristin Keith. The couple rushed to get a marriage license, even though they didn’t plan to marry right away, after a federal judge struck down a state law defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Now Nutter will marry them today.
BRIDE BEING RELEASED FROM JAIL ON CHARGES SHE SHOT NIECE TO DEATH AFTER WEDDING
Christina George-Harvan, 30, of Conway, is charged with homicide in Beaver County in the April 24 death of 21-year-old Katelyn Francis. Police say the newlyweds were at a bar when they got into an argument about who should drive home. The bride’s attorney says the shooting was an accident.
HAIL CRACKS US AIRWAYS JET’S WINDSHIELD IN PHILADELPHIA
The airline says only one layer of the multilayered windshield was cracked and Flight 768 en route from Orlando, Florida, landed safely yesterday. Nobody was hurt.

Tom Wolf, the Democratic Party’s candidate for governor, will have breakfast with the three candidates he whipped in Tuesday’s primary election. Former Gov. Ed Rendell says he’ll also attend today’s breakfast organized by U.S. Rep. Bob Brady at the Oregon Diner in south Philadelphia.
STATE PROSECUTORS SAY RETIRED PHILADELPHA JUDGE USED GOVERNMENT RESOURCES FOR PRIVATE REAL-ESTATE FIRM
Willis Berry Jr., 72, used his judicial secretary and other taxpayer resources in the daily operation of his business between 1997 and 2007, the attorney general’s office said. He was a common pleas judge from 1996 to 2012.
