RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Sen. Mark Warner’s re-election campaign says it raised $1.4 million since April while Republican Ed Gillespie’s campaign announced it had raised about $800,000.

The campaigns announced the totals Thursday.

Gillespie is the former chairman of the Republican National Committee. He is the favorite to win the Republican nomination at the GOP convention next month in Roanoke.

His campaign said it has raised more than $3 million since Gillespie started campaigning in January.

Warner is a former governor who is seeking a second term in the Senate. He reported having more than $8.8 million cash on hand at the end of March.
