LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas is going to allow the 12 medical marijuana dispensaries in the city to locate on Las Vegas Boulevard and in an area east of downtown.
City Council members debated more than 12 hours Wednesday before approving zones on the city’s main drag and along Fremont Street east of 8th Street for dispensaries, cultivation and production facilities.
The Las Vegas Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1gnoAWY ) there are no numerical limits on cultivation and production sites, just distance separation requirements from schools, parks, community centers and churches. Sites are subject to council approval.
A state law passed last year allows up to 40 medicinal pot dispensaries in Clark County.
Las Vegas is expected to have 12 dispensaries; Henderson, five; North Las Vegas, four; and Mesquite, one.
