MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) - Middletown police have charged a North Branford elementary school teacher with harassing a teenage girl.
Police say 43-year-old Stephanie DeFrance sent numerous messages over the Internet to the 15-year-old about a boy the teen was dating. Police say that boy had recently broken up with DeFrance’s daughter.
DeFrance is charged with second-degree harassment. She turned herself in to police on Wednesday. A telephone call seeking comment from her went unanswered early Thursday.
Police say DeFrance told them she realizes what she did was wrong and is getting professional help.
DeFrance, who lives in Middletown, teaches at Totoket Valley Elementary School in North Branford. School officials sent a message home to parents notifying them of the charges.
