NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Senate unanimously has confirmed Walt Green as U.S. Attorney for Louisiana’s Middle District based in Baton Rouge.
Green, who has been serving as acting U.S. attorney since Donald J. Cazayoux Jr. resigned the post, was recommended for the position by U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu. The Senate Judiciary Committee approved his nomination earlier this month for the district which covers Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes.
In a statement Wednesday, Landrieu said, Green brings more than 15 years of experience to the position and is widely respected for his leadership and service. Cazayoux said the office will “be in good hands” with Green’s guidance.
