GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - Tonja Ray-Smith has been hired as executive director for the Greenwood Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports (https://bit.ly/1kskegA ) Smith, who will begin June 1, comes from the Yazoo County Convention & Visitors Bureau, where she had been executive director since 2008.

As executive director, Smith will oversee all of Greenwood’s tourism programs including sales, marketing, public relations and visitor services. She will also implement programs designed to promote and attract tourists, visitors, groups, conventions and related activities to Greenwood.

Paige Hunt, who was executive director of the Greenwood CVB for more than seven years, stepped down in March to become the communication manager at the Mississippi Development Authority’s Division of Tourism in Jackson.
