A handful of workers in Miami trying to replace a roof thought they had matters under control when they peeled back sections of tile, one at a time, and small groups of bats flew into the air.

But their methodical approach took a turn to the surprising when they stumbled on what one media outlet described as the “mother lode.”

A video shows flocks upon flocks of bats spewing from beneath the roofing parts.

“It is both terrifying and amazing,” the blog 22 Words described.
