PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) - Facebook says 1,500 construction jobs were created during the four-year build-out of its data center in Prineville.

The social media company operates two, 330,000-square-foot data centers and has a 62,000-square-foot “cold storage” facility where computers hold older photos and material that users access less frequently.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/W9zEAD ) Facebook commissioned an economic impact report on the data center by the Portland research firm ECONorthwest.

The report Wednesday estimated the total value of economic activity from the data center last year at $45 million.

The Oregonian reports Facebook also received a Crook County property tax exemption last year worth more than $12 million.

Apple also has built a large data center in Prineville.
