O’FALLON, Mo. (AP) - A city councilman in the St. Louis suburb of O’Fallon, Missouri, is asking for a new election after losing his re-election bid by a single vote.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1gTROx8 ) reports that Bill Gardner has also requested a recount in the April election. Official results show Gardner losing to Dave Hinman, 711-710.

Gardner claims that poll workers refused to allow a disabled supporter of his to cast a curbside ballot. She was informed hours later that curbside voting was now an option, but she was unable to get back.

St. Charles County Elections Director Rich Chrismer says two poll workers called in sick, so curbside voting was not initially available. He says the woman was also told she could vote at an administrative office, but chose not to.
