BECKHAM TEAM UNVEILS ALTERNATIVE STADIUM PLANS

David Beckham’s team says filling in a downtown Miami boat slip will provide enough space to build a Major League soccer stadium and add more parkland. Fellow investor and businessman Marcelo Claure and real estate adviser John Alschuler presented the new plans Thursday. The design calls for utilizing an empty plot of land behind the AmericanAirlines Arena where the Miami Heat play and the unused boat slip nearby.

SOUTH CAROLINA MOM WHO DROVE VAN INTO OCEAN GIVES BIRTH

A South Carolina mother who drove her minivan into the ocean off Daytona Beach with her children inside has given birth. The baby was placed with the Department of Children and Families. She has been in custody since three days after the March incident. She’s being held on a $1.2 million bail on three counts each of attempted second-degree murder and child abuse.

SCOTT, CHRISTIE TOUR TAMPA PORT

Florida Gov. Rick Scott was joined by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at a campaign event to highlight funding for Tampa’s port and others across the state. The two Republican governors appeared Thursday afternoon at Port Hendry, part of Port Tampa Bay. Scott has proposed spending $1 billion on Florida ports and other infrastructure around the state.

CLASSIFIED SATELLITE LAUNCHED INTO SPACE

The Air Force has launched a top-secret satellite. The unmanned Atlas V rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Thursday. It hoisted a satellite for the National Reconnaissance Office. Launch Control called the liftoff a success.

LAKELAND TEEN ACCUSED OF PUTTING HAND SANITIZER IN TEACHER’S WATER

Deputies have arrested a Lakeland middle school student after they say he squirted hand sanitizer into a cup of water on his teacher’s desk while she was outside the classroom. When she returned and took a drink she noticed a funny taste. She took off the lid and smelled hand sanitizer. He was arrested on Wednesday.
