Schedule: Play begins Sunday. The 15-day tournament closes with the women’s singles final June 7 and men’s singles final June 8.
Sunday’s Forecast: Cloudy, with a 50 percent chance of rain and a high temperature of 68 degrees (20 Celsius). Rain is forecast for most of the first week.
2013 Men’s Singles Champion: Rafael Nadal of Spain.
2013 Women’s Singles Champion: Serena Williams of the U.S.
Last Year: Nadal beat David Ferrer of Spain 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 for his record eighth French Open championship - no other man has won that many titles at one of the Grand Slam tournaments - and fourth in a row. Williams defeated Maria Sharapova of Russia 6-4, 6-4 for her second French Open title and first since 2002.
