BANGOR, Maine (AP) - Transportation Security Administration officers say they have stopped two people who attempted to bring guns past a security checkpoint at Bangor International Airport in the last several days.

The agency said Thursday that officers stopped a man on May 21 after finding a firearm among his clothing in a suitcase. They also said they found a firearm in a man’s carry-on bag on May 16.

Bangor police confiscated the firearm in both instances.

The TSA reminds passengers that weapons and ammunition are not permitted in carry-on bags, but can be taken in checked bags if they are unloaded, packed properly and declared to the airline.
