CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The head of the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security says the state likely won’t have to pay back grants that weren’t properly overseen by the office.
A federal audit examined the state’s management of $15 million in grants from 2010 to 2012 and found that the state office was not properly holding law enforcement and other agencies to account for how they spent $400,000 of the funding.
State homeland security director Guy Cameron told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle (https://bit.ly/Tu7ahi) that most of the problems found by auditors have been fixed so he doesn’t think the state will be forced to pay back the money.
The bulk of the spending faulted in the audit was nearly $212,000 in various grants administered by the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy staff.
