SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah Transit Authority officials say they hope to cut down on accidents and crime by installing surveillance cameras in trains, stations and buses.
The agency in a statement on its website says workers this week have started installing the devices.
Officials say the cameras will help them piece together the cause of any accidents.
They say the cameras could also protect drivers and others by capturing sight of any robberies, passenger disruptions or instances of “road rage” from other drivers.
UTA says it’s following a host of cities nationwide in adopting such a program for its buses, trains and light rail system.
