ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Washington Post has endorsed Larry Hogan in the Republican primary for governor.

The newspaper on Wednesday (https://wapo.st/1noggVI ) wrote that Hogan is the “most likely to offer voters a plausible alternative.” It did not express much enthusiasm for the race in general, referring to “the lackluster Democratic contest” and describing the GOP primary as “a low-key affair.”

The Post says Hogan has distinguished himself from other primary opponents by “toning down the anti-tax brimstone.” It says Hogan also acknowledges the reality that a Republican governor will have to work with Democratic lawmakers.

The Post says while he is vague about the targets of spending cuts, he’s also cautious not to promise too much.
