SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A South Texas man has been arrested after law officers searched his home and discovered a pipe bomb and materials used to make explosive devices.
Federal prosecutors say 20-year-old Michael Keich (KEECH) of D’Hanis remains in custody pending a detention hearing Friday in San Antonio.
Investigators say Keich was arrested Tuesday on charges of manufacturing an unregistered weapon and manufacture of an explosive without a license.
Bomb squad members searched the suspect’s home in D’Hanis, about 35 miles west of San Antonio, and recovered a pipe bomb and items that can be used to make explosives.
Prosecutors on Wednesday did not immediately release additional details on the case.
No attorney was immediately listed in court documents for Keich, who if convicted faces up to 10 years in federal prison.
