MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Most road construction across Wisconsin will be put on hold over the long Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The state Department of Transportation says most work will end by noon on Friday and not resume until 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Peak travel times are expected to be from noon to 8 p.m. on both Friday and Monday.

Last year there were five traffic fatalities in Wisconsin over Memorial Day weekend.

More than 400 law enforcement agencies across the state are working together on an effort to crack down on unbuckled drivers and passengers.

The DOT also reminds travelers that they can check online for real-time traffic information at www.511wi.gov or by calling 511.
