ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta police say they’re investigating an officer-involved shooting that unfolded while firefighters were responding to a nearby fire.

Police say firefighters were dispatched to southwest Atlanta Wednesday for a reported fire and were told about a possible fight next door. Police say officers went next door and were trying to talk to the people involved in the fight when a man began walking toward an officer with what appeared to be a weapon.

Police say the man was told to drop the suspected weapon but refused and was shot. Authorities say the man has been taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

It’s unclear if the wounded man was connected to the house fire and police say the incident is under investigation. Details on the man’s condition weren’t immediately available.
