FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Flagstaff-area authorities say evacuations ordered because of a wildfire burning in Oak Creek Canyon haven’t expanded but that residents of two wooded residential areas south of Flagstaff should be prepared.
Coconino County and Coconino National Forest officials scheduled a Wednesday afternoon information meeting for residents of the Forest Highlands and Kachina (kuh-CHEE’-nuh) Village subdivisions.
The meeting will be held at the Forest Highlands Fire Station south of Flagstaff.
The announcement of the meeting says it’s prudent for residents of areas near the fire to be prepared to evacuate should the need arise.
However, it says no evacuation orders have been issued for areas outside of Oak Creek Canyon.
County officials encourage residents to register through the county’s emergency alert system (www.coconino.az.gov/emergency ).
