TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Police in Florida have identified a suspect in the death of a 9-year-old girl whose body was found floating in Tampa Bay.

Temple Terrace Police Chief Ken Albano identified the suspect Wednesday as 35-year-old Granville Ashanti Ritchie, who was arrested earlier in the day on an unrelated drug charge.

Authorities did not immediately say why Ritchie is considered as a suspect or how he came into contact with third-grader Felecia Williams. Court records Wednesday listed no attorney for Ritchie.

Felecia was last seen alive Friday afternoon, when she was picked up at her Tampa home by a family friend. The friend said Felecia disappeared from her apartment while she was taking a shower.

Felecia’s body was found Saturday in the bay. Police have not said how she died.
