HATTERAS VILLAGE, N.C. (AP) - Fire has destroyed a waterfront condominium complex at Hatteras Village, and officials say two people were hurt jumping from a second-story deck to escape the flames.

The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports (https://bit.ly/1vHGsjQ) flames were reported at Slash Creek Condos in Hatteras Village around 3 a.m. Wednesday. The complex has 12 units.

Dare County Emergency Management Coordinator Sandy Sanderson said the two people who jumped suffered leg injuries. He said only three units in the complex were occupied.

Sanderson said a wind from the southwest blew flames toward the Pamlico Sound, setting a small fire in the marsh that was quickly extinguished. He said the cause has not been determined, but authorities do not suspect fireworks or arson.
