SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame will sell rolls of sod from its football stadium on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesday after finishing taking online orders for delivery.

The school estimates that tearing up the field at Notre Dame Stadium will produce about 1,500 rolls 2-feet-by-5-feet. It began removing the grass Tuesday and will begin shipping the rolls at a cost of $149.95 on Wednesday. Customers can continue to order the rolls online until noon Wednesday

The school announced Tuesday that it would begin selling the remaining rolls at Gate B of the stadium starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday. As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, fewer than 600 rolls were left.

Notre Dame announced last month it was switching to FieldTurf because of problems with the playing surface in recent seasons.
