LINCOLN, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say one driver was killed and another driver was injured when a car and a dump truck crashed in Lincoln.

It happened about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday on Cedar Creek Road. Troopers say a car traveling north entered the southbound lanes and went into the path of a dump truck.

Police say the car’s driver tried to avoid a collision, but was the car was struck on the passenger side by the dump truck. Officers say both vehicles came to rest in a ditch, and the car became engulfed in flames.

The driver of the car, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck’s driver, 65-year-old James Daisey of Lincoln, was treated and released at a local hospital.

The accident is under investigation.
