LEXINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - A stretch of road in the Catskill Mountains is set to reopen nearly a week after it was closed by a mudslide.
The state Department of Transportation says Route 42 in the Greene County town of Lexington is scheduled to reopen Wednesday morning.
About a 3-mile stretch of the road between Route 6 and the Greene-Ulster county line was damaged last Thursday morning when sent rocks, trees and soil crashing onto the roadway in the Halcott Mountain Pass, 40 miles southwest of Albany.
No one was injured.
DOT officials say crews cleaned up the debris, monitored the slope and are repairing the guide rails. The work is expected to be completed in time for Wednesday’s reopening.
