OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - The state auditor’s office says it won’t investigate a complaint by a hearings officer for the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, who alleged that she had been improperly contacted and pressured on cases by her immediate supervisor.
The auditor’s whistleblower manager said in a letter to insurance office’s Chief Presiding Officer Patricia Petersen that there are other avenues for her to address her assertion of improper contact, The Seattle Times reported Wednesday (https://bit.ly/TvRF8N ).
Petersen alleged that the insurance commissioner Chief Deputy Jim Odiorne had improperly contacted her and tried to pressure her to decide cases the way Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler wanted. Spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis says there’s no evidence that occurred, but she says that the office is hiring an outside investigator to look into all claims surrounding the case.
